Join the PSO

How do you become a PSO member?
Membership in the PSO is automatically granted to physician members of the Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital Independent Practice Associations (IPA) and Newport Hospital's Physician Organization (which is an LLC). The IPA's themselves are members of NEPA (New England Physician Alliance.) The route to membership in NEPA and the PSO therefore is to join the independent physician organization at Rhode Island, The Miriam or Newport Hospital at your primary hospital.

These are the steps to take to enjoy the rights and privileges of PSO membership:

Step 1: Physicians must be credentialed by the medical staff office
Prior to beginning the IPA credentialing process you must first ensure you are credentialed at your facility. Contact the appropriate resource below:

Step 3: Complete and return the credentialing packet
Physicians meeting the pre-application requirements will be sent a credentialing packet. Complete and return this packet to Stephanie Sousa at NEPA.

Step 4: Board Review
IPA applications will be reviewed and approved by each individual hospital IPA Board. Once the physician is approved as an IPA member, they are automatically a PSO member.

Step 5: PSO Notification
Notification of membership is sent to the PSO.

Step 6: Physician Notification
A welcome letter and informational packet is sent to the new members by the PSO.
